HR Director - Luxury Retail, Shanghai

About the role

A world-leading luxury goods company is hiring an HR Director for its Shanghai office through Timeo-Performance. The role reports directly to the VP HR and covers all HR functions, including strategy, talent management, recruitment, performance management, learning and development and employee relations. It works closely with the VP HR to support staff at all levels and to implement HR strategies that help achieve business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business needs into actionable HR plans and ensure their implementation
• Collaborate across HR functions, evaluate ongoing programmes and propose improvements to a competitive people strategy
• Foster a workplace reflecting company culture and values, and drive employees to deliver results
• Handle workforce and organisation planning, and ensure effective recruitment with defined KPIs
• Maintain a talent pipeline and manage sourcing, retention and exits
• Run campus programmes and work with the office management team on performance management
• Handle employee relations cases in line with company policies and legal requirements
• Work with the HR Development Manager on training programmes and on creative, digital recruitment approaches
• Keep office vacancies at a minimum and roll out China HR projects supporting HR strategy
• Present HR results (retention, open positions, satisfaction, training) to the executive committee
• Manage one or more HR assistants

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above
• 10 to 20 years of solid HR experience covering full HR functions in luxury retail and/or MNC background
• Team management experience
• Knowledge of Chinese labour law practice
• Fluent English and Mandarin
• Excellent communication, interviewing, coaching and influencing skills; proactive, self-motivated, business-minded and leadership qualities
