E Next Trainee - Electrical Design (MV Switchgear)

About the role

ABB's E Next trainee programme in Beijing offers a trainee position in electrical design within the Distribution Solutions division of China. The role reports to the Principal Designer and focuses on electrical design and technical support of medium-voltage (MV) switchgear. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Design switchgear according to specific electrical engineering requirements.
• Work with the design institute to update major solution designs so they meet product requirements and answer customer questions about products.
• Help design project schedules so projects stay on time.
• Develop new schemes according to market needs, extend product functions and optimise original designs, supporting design confirmation before contract receipt.
• Write electrical and digital technical documentation and cooperate on production issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in electrical automation, electronic and information engineering or a related discipline.
• At least two years of working experience in switchgear.
• Good command of power system knowledge and MV switchgear manufacturing processes and standards.
• Ability to communicate in English, written and spoken.
• Strong communication skills, highly responsible, self-motivated and able to take on additional tasks.
• Strong learning ability, pragmatic approach and a positive attitude under pressure.

Required skills

• Familiarity with MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of MV switchgear technology and standards.
