Customer Engineer III - IMP

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows, and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental, and COVID‑19 protocols.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
