Customer Engineer – Field Service (DDP/CMP/IMP)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will be the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostics to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment, collaborating with senior engineers and customers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, trade certification or equivalent field service experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Willingness to work on‑site, follow safety, environmental and COVID‑19 protocols.

Required skills

• Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
