Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to lead the APAC category for paper‑based materials at 3M in Shanghai. The role focuses on silicone‑coated release liners, pressure‑sensitive papers and backing papers for tapes and abrasives, driving supply continuity, cost efficiency and value creation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end sub‑category leadership for the designated paper material families across APAC.
• Develop and execute a category strategy that ensures business continuity, resilience and profitability.
• Negotiate complex supplier contracts, manage supplier performance and identify alternative sources.
• Influence internal stakeholders to prioritize cost reduction, working‑capital improvement and risk mitigation.
• Maintain strategic supplier relationships that deliver technology, quality and service excellence.
• Conduct market and industry trend analysis to inform sourcing decisions.
• Lead change initiatives, project planning and continuous‑improvement activities at supplier sites.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing or category management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on cost and risk management.
• Excellent stakeholder‑management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to integrate sustainability, corporate responsibility and regulatory compliance into sourcing strategies.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
