Product Design Engineer

About the role

Molex is seeking a Product Design Engineer to lead the development of terminals and connectors for a variety of industries. You will work closely with sales, marketing and customers to translate requirements into manufacturable designs.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret customer design requirements from drawings, specifications or sales input.
• Perform preliminary feasibility studies and create CAD models, engineering drawings and design specifications.
• Conduct design reviews, ensure manufacturability, and release final specifications for tooling.
• Develop test plans for reliability testing and support tooling engineers with first‑article inspections.
• Approve or reject product deviation requests and review verification samples for customer approval.
• Provide design support for product modifications, manufacturing process improvements and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Respond to design‑related customer complaints and maintain communication with internal and external teams.
• Utilize new tools such as Fusion applications to enhance design workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallic Materials Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience designing terminals and connectors.
• Strong knowledge of stamping and plating processes.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Professional attitude with full ownership of assigned projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (NX/UG preferred).
• Experience using Fusion design tools.
• Terminal design and manufacturing expertise (stamping, plating).
• Metal material and plating knowledge.
• Design problem‑solving methods such as 8D, DFMEA and tolerance analysis.
