Customer Engineer (C1) – Field Service Role

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor and display technologies. As a Customer Engineer (C1) based in Chengdu, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced equipment while leveraging digital analytics for troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics to diagnose equipment issues.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance to resolve technical problems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
