Field Application Engineer Intern (Hardware)

About the role

Marvell is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Field Application Engineer (FAE) intern to join its technical team in Suzhou and Shanghai. The internship covers hands-on work with PAM4 DSP, linear TIA, drivers, Coherent DSP and optical technologies, collaborating with senior FAEs and the U.S. application team. It takes place at the Marvell Wuhan or Marvell Shanghai/Suzhou office, lasts at least 4-6 months, and successful interns may receive a full-time offer after assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior FAEs in reviewing customer schematic and layout designs for PAM4 DSP, Coherent DSP, driver and TIA in optical modules, AEC, NPO, XPO and CPO.
• Support SI and PI simulations.
• Help tune and optimise customer products in the lab under experienced engineers.
• Take part in product bring-up, evaluation, performance testing and debugging.
• Join customer support to help debug issues in customer systems.
• Contribute to technical documentation, FAQs and internal training materials.

Required profile

• Pursuing a Master's or PhD in Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering or a related field.
• Strong willingness to learn, effective communication and a collaborative mindset.
• Able to commit at least 4-6 months.

Required skills

• Fundamental understanding of high-speed SerDes (e.g. PAM4), analog TIA, driver chip design and optical communication systems is preferred.
• Exposure to 5nm/3nm/2nm SerDes DSPs for 112G/224G/448G applications is mentioned as part of what the intern will learn.
