Drive Systems FUSA System Engineer (Functional Safety)

About the role

We are looking for a Drive Systems Functional Safety (FUSA) System Engineer to lead the development and validation of functional safety concepts for automotive drivetrain systems. The role will serve as the central point of contact for safety topics across global and China‑specific projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and define safety goals.
• Break down system‑level requirements and follow up the safety process.
• Develop and verify functional safety concepts and ensure compliance with ISO 26262.
• Prepare safety cases, releases and technical specifications for future drivetrain software functions.
• Act as the primary liaison for functional safety issues in development, production and after‑sales markets, collaborating with R&D sites in China, Germany, India and external suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in functional safety for drive systems at an OEM or supplier.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and automotive safety lifecycle.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
