Customer Support Technician

About the role

The Customer Support Technician provides on‑site maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer training for Applied Materials' semiconductor equipment in Beijing. This physically demanding role ensures equipment uptime and customer satisfaction while adhering to clean‑room safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive and remedial maintenance on assigned systems.
• Perform wet cleans, start‑ups (Tier II and assist with Tier III), and warranty or service‑contract activities.
• Escalate critical down situations and keep management informed.
• Instruct customers on equipment operation and maintenance, and serve as the liaison for technical and administrative matters.
• Track equipment performance, implement productivity improvements, and apply Statistical Process Control.

Required profile

• Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 35 lb, and work in clean‑room environments using PPE.
• Proficiency in analytical processes and equipment troubleshooting.
• Understanding of quality improvement methods and SPC.
• Capability to provide informal guidance to junior team members.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for atypical equipment issues.
