Customer Engineer IV

About the role

As a Customer Engineer IV at Applied Materials in Beijing, you will serve as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues while ensuring high‑quality service and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment across electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills using company diagnostic tools and documentation.
• Develop and follow documented procedures and task plans, and generate new procedures as needed.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, leading projects and coordinating service activities.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7–10 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Advanced understanding of wafer processing parameters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet on‑site safety and environmental requirements.
