Customer Support Technician – PDC

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Customer Support Technician – PDC to deliver preventive and remedial maintenance for semiconductor equipment in Beijing. The role involves direct interaction with customers to ensure system performance and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance tasks within the assigned territory.
• Use escalation policies to keep management informed of equipment down situations.
• Verify and approve operational quality of system equipment and perform wet cleans as required.
• Instruct customers on operation and maintenance, troubleshoot process variations, and assist senior engineers.
• Manage start‑up, warranty, paid service, and service‑contract activities, including Tier II and Tier III start‑ups.
• Serve as liaison between Applied Materials and customer front‑line management for technical and administrative matters.
• Track equipment performance, implement productivity improvements, and apply Statistical Process Control and Quality Improvement methods.

Required profile

• Physically able to perform extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 35 lb, and work in clean‑room environments with appropriate PPE.
• Good understanding of how the support team integrates with other functions to achieve objectives.
• Ability to provide informal guidance to junior team members and solve atypical problems using established procedures.
