AI Developer

About the role

The United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is seeking an AI Developer to join its Enterprise Solutions Service in Deqing, China. You will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of AI‑driven software applications that support the UN’s digital transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and implement new applications with AI and/or geospatial components following UN standards.
• Document technical specifications, user guides and training materials; deliver technical presentations to stakeholders.
• Provide third‑level application support, including version management, data recovery and deployment to user offices.
• Monitor emerging AI technologies, benchmark tools, and propose new models, libraries, or optimization techniques.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure solution quality and alignment with user requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field, or a first‑level degree plus two years of relevant experience.
• At least 4 years of professional experience with Python and one major ML library (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow).
• Demonstrated experience in model evaluation, fine‑tuning, optimization, quantization, and deployment of AI models.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently in an international, multicultural environment.
