Supplier Quality Manager

About the role

ABB is seeking a strategic, digitally‑focused Supplier Quality Management Manager to own end‑to‑end supplier quality governance for its high‑end manufacturing supply chain. You will shape quality strategy, drive digital transformation, and ensure a stable, compliant, and high‑quality supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop medium‑ and long‑term supplier quality strategies, annual roadmaps and objectives aligned with business growth.
• Lead digital supplier quality transformation, applying QMS/MES data, visualisation, intelligent risk warnings and closed‑loop improvement.
• Manage full‑lifecycle supplier quality activities: qualification, audits, performance rating, process surveillance and capability development.
• Conduct 8D/root‑cause analyses for defects, field failures and incidents, ensuring effective CAPA closure.
• Establish strategic review mechanisms to drive yield improvement, PPM reduction and cost optimisation.
• Coach and develop the SQE team, enhancing professionalism, strategic thinking and digital capabilities.
• Support internal and customer audits, maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Quality or related field.
• 8+ years of supplier quality management experience, including 3+ years of people management.
• Background in heavy industry, large motors or high‑end equipment preferred.
• Strong strategic planning, digitalisation experience and data‑driven mindset.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication, supplier negotiation and project management skills.
• Fluent English for overseas supplier communication and audits.

Required skills

• Core quality tools: 8D, 5Why, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, MSA.
• Digital quality platforms and data analysis.
• QMS and MES systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical parts, machining, casting, stamping and electrical component quality control.
