Senior Pathologist

About the role

iQVIA, a global provider of clinical research services, is hiring a Senior Pathologist in Beijing. The role reviews and scores pathology slides, oversees technical processes affecting pathology interpretation, correlates clinical information with findings and releases reports into the laboratory information system (LIMS) in line with ICH E6 Good Clinical Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Review and score immunohistochemistry and FISH slides.
• As part of a team, establish new histopathology assays in the laboratory.
• Provide pathologist input to discussions with clinical trial sponsors so that trial goals are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively, with high quality and customer service.
• Ensure reliable, secure global procedures are developed, maintained and documented for new tests, and review and approve quality control reports, initiating corrective action where needed.
• Support Scientific Affairs and Sales in acquiring new testing, and recommend improvements to existing department procedures to global Lab Operations Managers.
• Take part in internal and client-facing communications and work collegially with other pathologists, customers, vendors and employees.

Required profile

• Medical degree or foreign equivalent at the licensed physician level, with certification in anatomic pathology; typically 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred experience in a reference lab, clinical research organization or clinical trials.
• Excellent written and oral communication, client management and problem-resolution skills.
• High ethical standards and ability to meet industry and company performance metrics.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients and to deliver projects on time.

Required skills

• Routine histopathology testing, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and cytogenetics (in-situ hybridization) testing procedures.
• Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles.
• Knowledge of PC applications and occupational safety and health rules.
• Other certifications and licenses required by local regulators.
