Scientist, Lab Operations

About the role

iqvia is hiring a Scientist, Lab Operations in Beijing. The role covers performing technical procedures and experiments to support sample analysis and validation, and includes root cause analysis, troubleshooting and process improvement. It is part of Q² Solutions, a clinical trial laboratory services organization.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document analytical procedures in line with company procedures and regulatory guidelines
• Troubleshoot and improve processes to raise data quality, lower costs or shorten turnaround times, including updating standard procedures
• Act as a technical resource for laboratory staff and support the team when the line manager is absent
• Analyze routine data to check that procedures stay within expected tolerances and escalate unusual results to senior lab personnel
• Prepare data analysis results for upload to the LIMS system under senior staff guidance
• Contribute to CAPA investigations, deviations and their resolution
• Maintain laboratory equipment, suggest new equipment, keep the lab tidy to 6S standards and maintain adequate inventory
• Prepare buffers and solutions, perform and document calibration and maintenance of equipment, and train other lab personnel
• Participate in continuing education, and may lead laboratory or cross-functional projects and help design routine methods and assays

Required profile

• Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry
• 1 year of experience in a regulated laboratory environment
• Sound knowledge of the principles, theories and concepts of the job area, and working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection control and hazardous chemical handling
• Strong technical knowledge of complex testing procedures and batch/specimen calculations
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve process issues
