PostDoc – Battery Materials Research (eMobility Innovation Center)

About the role

The postdoctoral researcher will provide technical solutions for complex battery‑materials projects, using both established and emerging technologies. The role drives technical development and knowledge creation for BASF’s eMobility Innovation Center.

Key responsibilities

• Develop binder and additive formulations for lithium‑ion, sodium‑ion and solid‑state batteries.
• Design and implement new technical solutions using advanced methods and technologies.
• Own project execution and coordinate progress with R&D colleagues, business units and external partners.
• Present project concepts and results at internal review meetings.
• Monitor scientific literature and patents to identify innovative approaches and methods.

Required profile

• PhD in polymer chemistry, polymer physics or electrochemistry.
• Experience with battery chemistry and a solid understanding of cell structure, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of solid‑state battery technology is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Chinese.
• Willingness to work primarily at the BASF‑Changjiang Physical Research Center in Liyang, Jiangsu (≈90%) and occasional work in Shanghai (≈10%).
