Indirect Purchasing Category Expert – IT & Engineering Services

About the role

The Category Expert will lead the development and execution of category strategies for Engineering Services and University Cooperation projects across China and Korea. Working within the i‑Buy Next Level organization, you will create business value through strategic sourcing, demand management and close collaboration with internal partners.

Key responsibilities

• Own the strategic category for Engineering Services and University Cooperation projects in China and Korea.
• Translate business demand into clear category priorities, sourcing strategies and measurable commercial targets.
• Serve as the primary interface between business partners, Category Management, execution teams and global stakeholders.
• Classify purchasing activities into strategic and operational scopes and ensure effective hand‑over to execution teams.
• Develop and implement regional category and supplier strategies aligned with global direction and AP1 business needs.
• Drive demand management by challenging specifications, consolidating requirements and identifying standardisation opportunities.
• Lead complex sourcing and negotiation activities, including market analysis, supplier selection, commercial evaluation and contract negotiation.
• Build transparency on spend, demand, supplier portfolio, rate cards, commercial conditions, risks and savings opportunities.
• Identify and realise cost savings, cost avoidance, demand reduction and productivity improvements.
• Manage supplier performance, commercial development, contract compliance and supplier risks.
• Leverage digital tools, automation, analytics and AI‑supported solutions to improve sourcing efficiency and decision‑making.
• Ensure repetitive operational activities are transferred to the appropriate execution or support organisation.
• Continuously improve the Category‑Execution interface by defining clear roles, responsibilities and service expectations.
• Advise internal customers on market developments, sourcing options, commercial risks and value‑creation opportunities.
• Maintain complete, traceable purchasing documentation in compliance with Bosch policies.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in Purchasing, Category Management or Strategic Sourcing.
