Field Service Engineer – Customer Equipment Support

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You’ll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills using company diagnostic tools and digital analytics.
• Follow and generate documented procedures and task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal business units, leading projects as needed.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 7‑10 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
