HR Intern – Talent Development

About the role

The United Nations Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance is offering a 3‑6 month internship in Beijing. The HR Intern will support the Staffing Diversity and Outreach Section, gaining hands‑on experience in talent development and strategic HR functions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with administrative and technical tasks, including maintaining internal records, databases, SharePoint sites and preparing presentations using Office 365 and Power BI.
• Support communications and graphic design by drafting materials, managing web and social media content, and creating visuals that follow UN branding guidelines.
• Conduct research on HR policies and best practices, collect and analyse data, and develop visual reports for decision‑making.
• Help plan and coordinate talent outreach events, partnerships with universities and government bodies, and activities aimed at preparing candidates for the Young Professionals Programme.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. programme (final year students are eligible).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
• Educational background or interest in human resources, psychology, education, public administration or related fields.
