Customer Engineer (Field Service)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service) at Applied Materials you will act as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to resolve technical issues while ensuring high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
