Customer Engineer (C1) – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (C1) at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while working closely with senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment and address technical issues under senior guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to interpret electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of customer/field service experience and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
