Associate/Senior Editor – Discover Journals (Environmental Science)

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the Discover Journals series focused on Environmental Science. Working in a hybrid model from Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing or Pune, you will manage a portfolio of journals, ensuring high editorial standards, rapid review cycles, and excellent author service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the launch of new journals, coordinating with internal stakeholders to meet board and content thresholds.
• Develop strategic proposals for new journal launches, assessing opportunities and potential success.
• Create and execute journal development strategies for each title in your portfolio.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts throughout the review process.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Journals group to align subject‑specific strategies with Springer Nature’s broader goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing scientific journals or similar editorial projects.
• Strong strategic mindset with the ability to make high‑quality decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal teams, external editors, and the scientific community.
• Ability to manage complexity and drive projects to successful completion.
