Assistant Manager, Quality & Technical Service Lab

About the role

In alignment with BASF Quality Policy, the Assistant Manager will oversee day‑to‑day quality management of the site, ensuring raw materials meet production specifications and finished products satisfy customer expectations. The role also leads production safety for the Quality & Technical Service Lab and drives continuous improvement of the quality management system.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Production Safety lead for the lab, conduct training, risk analysis and incident investigations.
• Schedule and supervise daily laboratory operations, verify raw material and finished‑product conformance, and issue Certificates of Analysis.
• Plan, organise and execute internal and external ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits and manage corrective actions.
• Lead customer‑complaint investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Manage calibration programmes for trade‑related measuring instruments, including budgets and schedules.
• Maintain laboratory operating manuals, quality‑control manuals and ensure proper record retention.
• Develop, monitor and optimise the annual quality‑function budget while controlling costs.
• Set performance objectives, conduct evaluations and foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture for direct reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in quality and laboratory management within the chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of polymerisation and polymer science.
• Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English for daily business communication.
• Proficiency with SAP and standard office software.
