Technical Product Engineer – MDP

About the role

The Technical Product Engineer – MDP will provide comprehensive technical support for Applied Materials’ equipment at customer sites in Shanghai. You will act as the primary liaison between customers and the division, handling escalations, fleet performance, installations and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all technical support activities for assigned customers, including escalations, fleet performance monitoring, system installations, improvement programs, and upgrades.
• Serve as the field escalation focal point, delivering technical documentation and guidance to field engineers, technicians, and product support teams.
• Provide Alpha Site support for engineering projects, covering installation, calibration, service, and testing of new hardware, processes, or software.
• Deliver Beta Site support on customer tools, ensuring proper installation, operation, calibration, and validation of new technologies.
• Generate and present system performance data (MTBF, MTBI, Availability) and create documentation such as ECO reviews, CENs, and BKMs.

Required profile

• Demonstrates deep conceptual and practical expertise in semiconductor equipment and a solid understanding of related disciplines.
• Knowledgeable about industry best practices, competitive landscape, and how the role integrates with other functions.
• Capable of leading small projects, mentoring less‑experienced colleagues, and solving complex technical problems.

Required skills

• System installations and equipment calibration.
• Troubleshooting and debugging of semiconductor manufacturing tools.
• Performance metrics analysis (MTBF, MTBI, Availability).
• Creation and review of engineering change orders (ECOs) and best‑practice documentation.
• Conducting on‑site testing and validation of new hardware or software.
