Associate / Senior Consultant – Indirect Tax (VAT) – Guangzhou

About the role

We are seeking an Associate or Senior Consultant to join our Indirect Tax team in Guangzhou. The role focuses on Value‑Added Tax (VAT) compliance, cost‑saving opportunities, and optimisation of cross‑border operating models for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide initial recommendations on current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Business Advisory function.
• Collect and analyse tax data, developing informed recommendations that align with client business strategies.
• Interpret and apply domestic and international indirect tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to client deliverables.
• Draft detailed client reports outlining tax interpretations, findings, and proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with tax authorities and understand local tax organisational structures.
• Identify client needs through targeted questioning and support senior specialists with tailored advice.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law or related field, with a recognised professional qualification.
• 3–5 years of indirect tax experience in advisory firms or multinational companies.
• Self‑motivated, mature, with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent communication and analytical abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of indirect tax legislation, especially VAT.
• Ability to analyse tax returns, refunds and optimisation opportunities.
• Proficiency in drafting technical tax deliverables and recommendations.
