Associate – Core Business Tax (Japanese/French)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Associate to join our Core Business Tax practice in Tianjin. The role supports clients on tax compliance, planning and advisory projects, leveraging both technical expertise and language skills in Japanese or French.

Key responsibilities

• Apply technical tax knowledge to assist leadership on client compliance and reporting engagements.
• Draft reports, identify key issues and risks, and propose practical tax planning and implementation solutions.
• Prepare recommendations for tax administration and appeals processes, and draft advisory advice for clients.
• Research tax authority procedures, structures and operations, and review draft responses to tax authorities.
• Provide initial recommendations based on current tax legislation across the Global Tax and Business Advisory function.
• Select appropriate data‑collection and analysis methods to develop informed recommendations.
• Communicate how technology can enable tax business processes and ensure appropriate tools are used on projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Japanese, French, tax, accounting, finance, law or related fields.
• 0‑5 years of experience in a tax function within CPA firms (Big 4 preferred), law firms, tax authorities or large corporations.
• Strong analytical mindset, commitment to high‑quality client service and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent project‑management, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent written and oral Japanese (JLPT‑N1) and Mandarin Chinese; business‑level proficiency required.
