Assistant Editor – Biomedical & Health Science

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Editor to manage the full lifecycle of manuscripts in the biomedical and health science domain. You will serve as the primary liaison between authors, reviewers, and internal teams, ensuring a rigorous and efficient peer‑review process for our portfolio of high‑impact journals.

Key responsibilities

• Screen new submissions for scope, quality, and integrity; make initial editorial decisions.
• Select, invite, and manage reviewers; evaluate reports and decide on acceptance, revision, or rejection.
• Handle revised manuscripts and author rebuttals, determining if further review is needed.
• Recommend alternative journals within the portfolio for manuscripts that are a better fit elsewhere.
• Commission articles and special issues, inviting leading experts to contribute reviews, commentaries, and other content.
• Track invited content pipelines, send reminders, and monitor submissions.
• Analyze performance data to improve peer‑review efficiency and collaborate with senior editors and subject‑area clusters.

Required profile

• PhD in a natural sciences field relevant to biomedical or health sciences.
• Postdoctoral research experience is highly desirable.
• Expertise in areas such as biomedical engineering, nanomedicine, biochemistry, immunology, cancer research, disease diagnosis, drug delivery, etc.
• International research experience outside the home country is preferred.
