Associate or Senior Editor – Communications Sustainability

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor with research experience in environmental sciences applied to sustainability to join the Communications Sustainability journal. The role involves selecting, developing, and promoting high‑quality manuscripts that advance sustainability research across natural, social, and engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Select and evaluate manuscripts for publication, ensuring they meet editorial policy and scientific standards.
• Work with authors to improve titles, abstracts, and structure for broader readership.
• Coordinate with the Chief Editor on press releases and draft announcements.
• Recruit, train, and support external editors, fostering alignment with the journal’s philosophy.
• Represent the journal at conferences, meetings, and research institutions, reporting on activities.

Required profile

• PhD‑level research experience in environmental sciences with strong analytical or computational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to assess novelty, context, and implications of interdisciplinary research.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Passion for science, willingness to engage with researchers worldwide, and ability to work collaboratively.
