Application Engineer – Cushion Design & Development

About the role

The Application Engineer will lead the design, development and engineering of cushion products, ensuring compliance with Autoliv standards, legal requirements and OEM specifications. The role supports project delivery by meeting cost, schedule and quality targets while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cushion design, development and engineering according to Autoliv, legal and OEM requirements.
• Manage cushion development for assigned projects, ensuring cost, timing and quality objectives are met.
• Participate in LLs work, case studies, TFC reviews, design reviews and share knowledge with the team.
• Facilitate rapid import of successful GDP and SWAT validation cases.
• Apply manual and automatic line product design guidelines.
• Engage in line and design workshops to enhance plant capabilities.
• Support SQE in raising cushion supplier technical competence.
• Evaluate engineering change requests, report feasibility and estimate time/cost impacts.
• Represent cushion engineering within project teams and assist the project manager with internal coordination.
• Review and mentor the work of assistant cushion engineers.
• Provide technical support to production for quick resolution of cushion‑related issues.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and standardisation across cushion projects.
• Execute tasks assigned by group and department managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cushion design and development.
• Strong understanding of automotive standards and OEM requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional project teams.
• Analytical mindset for evaluating engineering changes and cost impacts.
