Transformation Project Manager (Payroll) - 1 Year Contract

About the role

ABB Robotics is looking for an experienced Transformation Project Manager (Payroll and Employee Life Cycle) to lead end-to-end payroll system implementation projects across multiple countries and local country discovery efforts. The role covers payroll, employee life cycle and time and attendance, and ensures compliance, stakeholder alignment and a smooth transition to operations. It reports to the Global Payroll Transformation and M&A Lead and candidates must be based in China.

Key responsibilities

• Lead payroll implementation projects from initiation through go-live and stabilization.
• Lead local country discovery to understand the current state and define target processes.
• Define scope, objectives, timelines, milestones and deliverables, and develop detailed project plans, risk logs and status reports.
• Coordinate with HR, Finance, IT, payroll vendors and business stakeholders.
• Manage payroll system implementation, integrations and data migration.
• Ensure compliance with local labour laws, tax regulations and company policies.
• Facilitate workshops to gather requirements and document functional specifications.
• Oversee SIT, UAT, parallel payroll runs and defect resolution.
• Monitor budgets, resources and timelines, identify risks and mitigate them.
• Support change management, training and transition to business-as-usual, and close out projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of project management experience in payroll or HR transformation projects.
• Proven experience managing payroll implementations in managed services environments.
• Fluent English and willingness to travel for workshops and milestones.
• Flexible working hours to support global time zones.
