Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Join the Global Digital Factory ECO team in Nanjing to develop modern web applications for BASF Coatings and external customers. You will work in an agile DevOps environment, delivering both intranet and internet solutions that enhance service quality and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend components using Java Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and developers across locations to translate ideas into live features.
• Implement microservice architectures and integrate with RESTful APIs.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high quality.
• Deploy applications through CI/CD pipelines and container technologies, supporting monitoring and observability.
• Document architecture decisions, API specifications, and runbooks for maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold coding standards.

Required profile

• Degree in computer or information science or equivalent experience.
• Strong professional experience with Java (8+), Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience with microservice design and RESTful API development.
• Proficiency in SQL databases and basic data‑modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and exposure to Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with DevOps tooling for build, deployment, and monitoring.
• Solid knowledge of Git‑based version control (Git, Bitbucket).
