Senior Air Planning Associate

About the role

Flexport is hiring a Senior Air Planning Associate in Shanghai within its Air Gateway Operations team. The role covers air export planning, capacity management with airlines, billing and reconciliation, and vendor and contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the capacity of Flexport charter flights and Block Space Agreements in the region, ensuring they are fulfilled
• Decide on shipment consolidation to optimise margins and deliver a build plan to the warehouse team
• Help build Flexport's air export planning processes and tools
• Handle excess or shortage against allocated capacity with the airline: procure extra capacity, ask partners to contribute, etc.
• Plan freight build-up to maximise consolidation benefits and Flexport margin
• Communicate loading plans and consolidation to warehouse operations and other regional planning teams, and coordinate cargo handling
• Manage airline billing, partner billing (terminal and warehouse operations) and co-loader billing, and own AP/AR processes for freight billing and charge reconciliation
• Manage contract renewals with airlines, co-loaders and other vendors, lead new vendor onboarding and coordinate vendor payments
• Share billing and inventory discrepancies with regional planning and operations teams and monitor incoming data to keep billing cycles accurate and on time

Required profile

• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Internal track record of success in an operational or planning role
• Full fluency in English and Mandarin (Cantonese a plus)
• Previous experience in forwarding, airline space control, revenue management or export/import planning is a plus
• A "compliance first" attitude, given the highly regulated industry
