Scientific Editor for Cell Host & Microbe

About the role

The Cell Host & Microbe editorial team is seeking a dynamic scientist to assess manuscripts, manage peer review, and engage with authors and the scientific community. The role involves commissioning content, developing journal strategy, and representing the journal at conferences.

Key responsibilities

• Assess submitted research papers and select qualified referees.
• Commission and edit Review, Perspective, and other front‑matter articles.
• Develop and support journal and Cell Press editorial strategy.
• Build relationships with researchers through outreach and conference travel.
• Provide outstanding author service throughout the review process.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.
• Broad scientific interests with strong editorial and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a diverse global team.
• Effective time‑management and adaptable workflow organization.
