About the role

Join the Cell Press Life and Medical Science portfolio as a Scientific Editor for Cell Host & Microbe. You will work with the editorial team to assess manuscripts, manage peer review, and engage authors, while contributing to journal strategy and outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Assess submitted research papers and select qualified referees.
• Recruit and commission review, perspective, and other front‑matter articles.
• Engage authors throughout the review process, providing outstanding service.
• Develop and support journal and Cell Press editorial strategy.
• Build relationships with researchers through outreach and travel to conferences and institutions.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.
• Broad scientific interests with strong editorial and critical‑thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse global team.

Required skills

• Strong editorial judgment across a wide range of life‑science topics.
• Effective time‑management and flexible workflow organization.
