Process Support Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing (CVD, CMP, Etch)

About the role

As a Process Support Engineer (PSE) at Applied Materials in Beijing, you will guide semiconductor manufacturing products through their full lifecycle, from concept to qualification, providing on‑site installations, system diagnostics, and complex equipment repair.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑visibility customer support through on‑site installations, system diagnoses, and service/repair of complex semiconductor equipment.
• Collaborate with customers to develop cutting‑edge processes for advanced chips, creating hypothesis experiments and design of experiments (DOE).
• Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and compile reports with high‑level conclusions.
• Troubleshoot complex problems, perform root‑cause analyses, and resolve difficult process engineering and product issues.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders and customers to build relationships and achieve project goals.
• Mentor junior colleagues and act as liaison between customers and business units, occasionally leading small projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, electrical engineering, optoelectronics or related field.
• 4–7 years of experience in semiconductor fab or equipment industry.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Atomic Layer Deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal and Implant processes.
• Experience designing and executing DOE and statistical data analysis.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and troubleshoot complex equipment.
