On-site Freelance Game Linguist – English to Brazilian Portuguese

About the role

We are seeking an on‑site Freelance Game Linguist to translate English game content into Brazilian Portuguese. Based in our Beijing office, you will support the localization pipeline for multiple titles during an initial three‑month fixed‑term contract, with a strong possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Translate in‑game text, UI elements, and marketing materials from English to Brazilian Portuguese with cultural nuance.
• Revise localized content to ensure high quality, consistent style, and correct terminology.
• Perform Language Quality Assurance (LQA) to identify and fix grammar, spelling, and style issues.
• Maintain the original tone and voice, adapting where necessary for cultural relevance.
• Participate in creative discussions, providing linguistic input to avoid cultural pitfalls.
• Collaborate with the Localization Project Management team to meet timelines and deliverables.

Required profile

• Native‑level Brazilian Portuguese and fluent English.
• At least 2 years of experience in game localization (English ↔ Brazilian Portuguese).
• Strong cultural understanding of both English‑ and Brazilian Portuguese‑speaking markets.
• Comfortable using localization tools and content management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and a quality‑first mindset.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Passion for gaming and awareness of mobile gaming trends.
• Background in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field is a plus.
