Mobile Developer (Consultant)

About the role

The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations is seeking a consultant to design, develop and support mobile applications with geospatial and AI components. The position is based on‑site in Deqing, Zhejiang, China for an initial six‑month period, renewable based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and implement new mobile applications using UN standards.
• Prepare technical and user documentation, training materials and deliver technical presentations.
• Provide third‑level support, version management and troubleshooting for deployed applications.
• Integrate APIs and JSON data, manage source code with Git, and ensure quality through requirements analysis.
• Monitor industry developments, benchmark tools and propose new libraries or frameworks.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or a first‑level degree plus two years relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience building mobile apps with React/React Native (or Ionic & Capacitor) and 3 years with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• At least 2 years of experience integrating APIs/JSON; ability to travel abroad for project work.
• Authorized to work in China without UN sponsorship; fluency in English (written and spoken) required.
