Mechanical Engineer – R&D

About the role

KONE Technology & Innovation (KTI) is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer to join its research team in Kunshan, China. You will design mechanical components for elevators, focusing on cost reduction, performance enhancement, and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical parts using 3D CAD (preferably Creo) and define configuration rules.
• Validate designs through experimental testing and support prototype development.
• Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, quality, installation, and maintenance teams to implement component changes.
• Manage fire certification process for elevator doors, including sample preparation and liaison with external laboratories and notified bodies.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautic Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3‑5 years of experience in the mechanical industry.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Team‑player attitude with good problem‑solving and organizational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably Creo.
• Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Basic programming skills in C++ for product structure management.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and ability to devise innovative technical solutions.
