Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial Law

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support to Voith Group’s operations across China and the broader APAC region. The role involves advising on corporate matters, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring compliance with governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver daily legal advice and support to business units.
• Develop and recommend legal strategies for Voith Group companies in China and APAC.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and commercial agreements.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks affecting the Group’s operations.
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate litigation and arbitration, managing external counsel.
• Address employment‑related legal issues.
• Oversee legal entity registration and deregistration in China.
• Conduct compliance training and participate in investigations and disciplinary actions.
• Lead or contribute to global legal initiatives and projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a top‑tier law school.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, focusing on corporate law.
• Strong negotiation abilities and capacity to work independently and creatively.
• Willingness to travel within China, including visits to Voith’s operation units in Shanghai and other cities.
• Experience in corporate governance, compliance programs, or internal investigations is preferred.
