Customer Engineer III – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer III at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while collaborating with senior engineers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment, performing preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to assess equipment issues, with assistance from senior engineers.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
