Customer Engineer II

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading cutting‑edge semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques.
• Knowledge of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
