Manager, Customer Engineer – ETCH

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and semiconductor equipment, is seeking a Manager, Customer Engineer – ETCH for its Shenzhen location. The role leads a district of customer engineers, driving customer relationships, technical support, and business results.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across all levels in the district, conducting regular visits.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals, and corrective actions.
• Serve as primary interface with product divisions for technical support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Oversee account planning with District Sales Engineer and provide support plans for system sales.
• Lead system installation projects, including pre‑facility meetings, start‑up coordination, and process support.
• Manage RMA procedures, financial forecasting, cost efficiency, and quarterly award programs.
• Execute escalation procedures and ensure accurate tracking of engineer hours.

Required profile

• Strong leadership experience with ability to set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and mentor new engineers.
• Proven ability to analyze business data, make decisions within defined policies, and achieve financial targets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting technical information and gaining cooperation across functions.
