Team Manager – Mechanical Engineering (E&MS & R&D)

About the role

Alfa Laval is looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead the E&MS and R&D Mechanical Engineering teams at its Qingdao hub. The role blends leadership with hands‑on technical work, overseeing capital sales, service projects, product development and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a diverse mechanical engineering team covering design, repair, CAD, calculations and welding.
• Oversee mechanical design, ensuring components meet project requirements and are ready for hand‑over to customers, manufacturing and purchasing.
• Drive product development, optimisation and engineering change initiatives, applying Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Collaborate closely with European counterparts and act as the extended arm of the Product Development Manager in Denmark.
• Set and monitor KPIs, ensure compliance with global standards and contribute to cost‑optimisation and customer‑satisfaction goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in boiler and pressure‑vessel manufacturing or marine/shipbuilding industries.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
