Senior Indirect Procurement Buyer

About the role

The Senior Indirect Procurement Buyer is responsible for optimizing material costs, developing supply‑base strategies, and negotiating pricing and terms for strategic or business‑unit specific items. This role also supervises a work‑cell purchasing team, ensuring they have the training and tools needed to succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and project component purchase prices for accurate inventory valuation in the Standard Costing process.
• Recruit, hire, and train purchasing staff within the work‑cell.
• Develop and deliver work‑cell specific training programs.
• Support Jabil SCM initiatives, improve sourcing options, and add preferred suppliers to customers' Approved Manufacturer’s Lists.
• Provide input for competitive customer quotations while maximizing Materials Price Variance (MPV).
• Obtain customer authorization for additional expenses such as premiums, freight, or tooling charges.
• Monitor supplier performance on cost, delivery, and quality; conduct audits, certifications, and performance reviews.
• Develop supply‑chain strategies tailored to customers or business‑unit strategic materials.
• Collaborate with Materials Quote Analysts to quote new and existing materials and negotiate cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Negotiate terms, liability clauses, and special stocking arrangements that protect Jabil and its customers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in indirect procurement or strategic sourcing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a purchasing team.
• Strong understanding of supplier capabilities, market trends, and commodity technologies.
• Experience with standard costing, price variance analysis, and supplier performance metrics.
