Scent Design Associate

About the role

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients and health & biosciences, is hiring a Scent Design Associate for its Shanghai IBP office. This is an onsite role within a creative, solution-oriented team focused on fragrance design. The associate supports fragrance development projects and works closely with perfumers, marketing, sales, technical and regulatory teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support fragrance development projects and coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure timely execution.
• Conduct fragrance evaluations and give olfactive feedback to support fragrance selection and development.
• Assist in developing fragrance solutions aligned with customer needs, brand positioning and market trends.
• Monitor market, consumer and fragrance trends and generate competitive and category insights.
• Prepare fragrance presentations, submissions and supporting documentation for internal and customer projects.
• Maintain and use fragrance portfolios, libraries and knowledge management systems.
• Build understanding of fragrance ingredients, accords and technical performance.
• Communicate fragrance concepts and recommendations to customers and run small-to-medium customer projects independently.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in fragrance, chemistry, marketing, business, life sciences or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in the fragrance industry, consumer products, sensory evaluation, marketing or a related field.
• Good olfactory abilities and willingness to develop fragrance evaluation expertise.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Experience in fragrance evaluation, sensory science, consumer insights or product development, and familiarity with Fine Fragrance, Personal Care, Home Care or Air Care categories is a plus.
