Product Engineering Specialist, Local Accounts

About the role

Axalta is looking for a Product Engineering Specialist based in Shanghai to work with its local customer accounts. The role acts as a technical bridge between Axalta's products and the engineering and manufacturing teams of its customers, supporting growth plans, product quality and new product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Build key relationships with customer engineering and manufacturing teams to support the growth plan.
• Act as technical spokesperson to customer materials engineering and paint manufacturing groups.
• Manage corrective actions for product performance issues and lead product quality investigations, reporting results through SalesForce.
• Provide a Voice of Customer to Axalta's Sales, Marketing, Technical and Manufacturing functions.
• Lead product initiatives with the assigned customer group and support new product launches and technology transfers in all regions.
• Translate product data into marketing and sales tools, and make written and oral presentations to customers.
• Manage APQP documentation for new product development and submissions, and help the Product Engineering Manager align customer approvals with Axalta strategy.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or another technical field.
• At least 3-7 years of relevant automotive and/or coatings industry experience, including technical, operational and commercial roles.
• Experience in an R&D environment and bringing new products to market is highly preferred.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural and global environment; global experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, and ability to manage several projects and lead multi-functional teams without direct authority.

Required skills

• Knowledge of paint formulation and application processes.
• Proficiency in MS Office is a must.
• Strong IT, computer and data processing skills.
• Experience with SalesForce.com and information databases is a plus.
