PQE Supervisor - Xiamen

About the role

ABB is looking for a PQE supervisor for its EL Smart Power business in Xiamen, China. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the role ensures the local unit has the capabilities to control products and systems, keeping compliance with internal, customer and industry requirements in a cost-effective and safe environment. It involves developing and implementing standards and test methods so only compliant products, software and services reach customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead production-line PPAP implementation (flow chart, PFMEA, control plan, MSA) for new products, including new testing device development, validation, trial runs and product approval
• Monitor and improve production-line FPY, PPM and 5M1E
• Plan and organise regular reliability tests such as endurance, temperature rise and electric life tests
• Lead the PPS team to resolve quality issues quickly, escalating from L1 to L2 and L3
• Support the Product Engineer with engineering change validation
• Define quality standards and testing specifications for localised parts with R&D and PER
• Review component sample test reports and verify assembled products before final approval
• Carry out supplier site audits of PPAP and manufacturing processes, coach suppliers on quality, and adjust incoming component sampling plans
• Manage the daily planning, task allocation, coaching, motivation and performance evaluation of the PQE team, and collaborate across departments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Familiarity with stamping, machining, PCBA manufacturing and component assembly, and knowledge of breaker quality characteristics, control plans and common defects
• Over 8 years of experience in PQE-related work, including leading a cross-functional quality improvement team
• Good English
