About the role

Bosch is looking for a Senior Laser Process R&D Engineer to lead the development of cutting‑edge laser‑based manufacturing processes. You will work in a state‑of‑the‑art laser laboratory in Suzhou, turning innovative concepts into robust, high‑volume production solutions for fast‑growing sectors such as NEV, hydrogen/fuel cells, and power electronics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research, design and implementation of laser welding, cutting, drilling, structuring and patterning processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies, rapid validation and multi‑parameter optimization in the laser lab.
• Optimize process parameters to achieve ultra‑high speed and high‑yield production, reducing cycle time.
• Develop high‑yield welding processes for reflective and dissimilar materials using advanced beam‑shaping and green/blue wavelength technologies.
• Transfer laboratory concepts to automated shop‑floor machines, supporting rapid prototyping and commissioning.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues at the intersection of laser optics, process physics and mechanical automation.
• Act as a technical consultant for global customers, delivering tailored laser solutions and comprehensive documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in Laser Technology, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven experience in laser‑based process development and industrial automation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical solutions.
