Middle School Social & Emotional Counselor

About the role

The Middle School Social & Emotional Counselor leads a comprehensive counseling program for students in grades 5‑8, promoting social‑emotional development, preventive services, and crisis response. Working closely with teachers, parents, and administrators, the counselor helps each student thrive within a Christian‑based international school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a school‑wide counseling curriculum focused on social and emotional wellness.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions for middle‑school students.
• Collaborate with teachers and the principal to conduct Care and Concern meetings.
• Provide crisis intervention and support for students and families.
• Develop and implement initiatives that respond to identified student needs.
• Integrate technology tools to track progress and deliver virtual resources.

Required profile

• BA degree in education (required); Master’s or advanced degree in guidance counseling with international certification (desired).
• Minimum two years of teaching experience and experience as a counselor in a middle‑school setting.
• Experience working in an international school and familiarity with the American educational system (desired).
• Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations, especially Asian and expatriate families.
